Renato Birolli Archive, through the Birolli Art Foundation, is responsible for the expertise, authentication and archiving of works by Renato Birolli.

Procedure
To initiate a request for expertise and authentication, please contact the Renato Birolli Archive by email or through the dedicated contact form.
At the preliminary stage, the Archive requires all available information concerning the work, including its title, date, medium, dimensions, presence or absence of a signature, provenance and method of acquisition. The request must also include two clear, high-quality colour digital images showing the work in its entirety, one of the front and one of the reverse, photographed straight on and without glass.
On the basis of this documentation, the Archive will verify free of charge whether the work is already recorded in its registers.
If the work has not yet been archived, the preliminary expertise required for its assessment will involve the preparation of a paper dossier, to be sent to the Archive’s Milan address:
Archivio Renato Birolli
via Plinio 70
20129 Milan
The list of documents required to complete the dossier and to register the work in both paper and digital form will be provided upon receipt of the initial request, together with an estimate of the relevant fees.
Once the complete documentation has been received, the Committee of Experts will examine the work in order to assess its authenticity. If the outcome is favourable, the work will be registered in the Archive and assigned a unique identification number.
The certificate of authenticity, issued in paper form as a single original copy, will be sent by post. The photographic documentation will remain on file with the Archive regardless of the outcome of the examination.
No expertise or archiving procedure may be initiated solely on the basis of photographic material submitted by email.
Where deemed necessary, the Committee may request a direct physical examination of the work. Examination sessions by the Scientific Committee are held by appointment on dates determined on a case-by-case basis.
Works that are not registered with the Renato Birolli Archive may not be presented, offered or sold, whether at auction or by private treaty, as authentic works by the artist.
The Archive systematically monitors improper use, unauthorised attributions and unlawful conduct, and cooperates with the relevant authorities in the prevention and combating of forgery and the circulation of counterfeit works.
Fees
The fees payable for expertise, archiving and the dispatch of the certificate of authenticity vary according to the type of work and its support.
Payment must be made by bank transfer at the time the request is submitted and the paper documentation is sent. Proof of payment must be enclosed with the dossier.
All payments are non-refundable and constitute a flat-rate contribution towards the costs and activities involved in the examination of the work by the Committee of Experts.
To receive an estimate of the fees and the bank details required for payment, please contact the Renato Birolli Archive at archivio@renatobirolli.org.
Processing of Personal Data
Collectors who wish to be expressly identified by name in the Archive’s records and in any related publications must provide specific written consent to the processing and publication of their personal data.
In the absence of such consent, the generic designation “Private Collection” will be used.
